CVS CAREMARK CHARITY CLASSIC ANNOUNCES FIELD CHANGE
BARRINGTON, Rhode Island (June 14, 2012) – CVS Caremark Charity Classic co-hosts Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade today announced that Nick Price has withdrawn, due to an injury, from the 2012 CVS Caremark Charity Classic, scheduled for June 17-19 at Rhode Island Country Club.
“Making the call to Brad Faxon was very difficult as the CVS Caremark Charity Classic is one of my favorite tournaments to play. I have met so many wonderful people through my years of playing in the Charity Classic, so I was truly looking forward to returning to see everyone and to playing at Rhode Island Country Club, which is such a gem. Having played in the event many times, I know it is a tremendous two days of great golf and fun, plus the mission of the tournament is so important to the area. It pains me to withdraw and I will look forward to returning to the CVS Caremark Charity Classic in the future,” said Price.
Replacing Price is eight-time PGA Tour and seven-time Champions Tour winner Fred Funk. Funk posted his most recent win at the 2012 Insperity Championship. Funk, the 2005 CVS Caremark Charity Classic champion (with partner Chris DiMarco), is making his fourth appearance at Rhode Island Country Club.
“We’re sorry Nick won’t be able to join us at this year’s CVS Caremark Charity Classic and wish him good health,” said Eileen Howard Boone, Tournament Chairwoman, CVS Caremark Charity Classic. “We’re excited to have another of golf’s greats – Fred Funk – join us for what will be a spectacular tournament.”
